We’re introducing Text-to-Motion in Rokoko Studio Preview - an AI-powered way to generate character animation directly from natural language prompts. It’s available starting today for all users on paid plans.

This feature is still experimental, but we believe it’s already useful enough to start creating value, and we want to evolve it with real user feedback.

Why we built this

At Rokoko, we’ve always focused on giving creators faster, more intuitive ways to work with motion.

Until now, your entry point has been either recording with our mocap tools or working from existing clips. Both remain the best ways to capture acting, emotion, and timing - but sometimes, you just need something simple to get started (or maybe you don’t have access to any of the above yet).

Text-to-Motion adds that missing link: a fast, flexible way to create simple, usable motions without setting up a capture session.

“A character walks slowly.”

“A person squats down and looks around.”

“A confident idle stance.”

Within seconds, Studio Preview generates a physically grounded motion sequence you can test, crop, smooth, loop, and export.

It’s motion creation at its simplest: no setup, just a sentence.

What it’s best for

This first version focuses on core locomotion and idle animations, the kind of foundational movements every project needs.

It’s not about stitching together long performances or writing cinematic paragraphs of description. In fact, that’s where most text-to-motion tools overpromise and become just an impressive but ultimately useless tech demo. You can’t meaningfully express acting, timing, or emotion through a block of text, and trying usually leads to unpredictable results.

Our approach is intentionally simple:

  • One motion at a time
  • Short, clear prompts
  • Fast iterations and variations

If you want a different walking style, a seated idle, or a dynamic transition pose, our Text-to-Motion tool will get you there in seconds.
That’s also why we view Text-to-Motion as a production companion, not a replacement for mocap. It helps you prototype, block out ideas, and fill small animation gaps efficiently.

Why simplicity matters

Some AI motion tools encourage long, descriptive prompts, and while that makes for fun demos, it rarely helps you create something you’d actually use. The more words you add, the less control you have over what comes out.

We’ve designed Rokoko’s Text-to-Motion around actual tangible usefulness for creators.

It’s for creators who need quick, clean base motions they can refine - not random, showy results. In that sense, we see it as part of a professional pipeline, not a toy.

How it works

Text-to-Motion runs on a model trained on Rokoko’s proprietary dataset, built from millions of high-quality motion recordings. When you type a prompt, the model generates a matching full-body sequence based on real human motion patterns - but never exactly like any assets it is trained on.

Every generated clip can be previewed and exported like any other animation in Studio Preview. The current release supports single-character, full-body output, and we’re continuously improving its range and realism through ongoing training.

What’s next

This is just the start. In the coming releases, we’ll expand the feature set with:

  • Finger data generation, bringing subtle hand motion into the mix.
  • Deeper edit and blending tools for refining generated clips.
  • Broader motion coverage based on user requests and training feedback.

We’ll keep iterating based on how people actually use it. Your feedback will help us guide what’s worth improving, what’s missing, and what’s next.

Try it today

Text-to-Motion is available now in Rokoko Studio Preview for all paid plans.

Update to the latest version, open the AI Tools tab, and start exploring.

We’re releasing this early because we think it already saves time, and we want to shape its evolution together with the creators who’ll use it most.
