Love at first move: Rokoko Animation Challenge

The challenge starts on Dec 20 and ends on January 27 at 4 PM CET. To submit the entry, use the submission form sent to you when signing up.

The contest is a digital art competition meant for artists of every level who work with character animation. Any visual render style is allowed and everyone can participate.

Your entry has to relate to the theme and be made with Rokoko Video. The submission has to be an 8-seconds character animation that lets us in on its personality. Imagine that the video would be uploaded to a dating app for your character to find their perfect match. Feel free to add sounds but do not use music (and avoid copyright issues!) as we will add our own track to the final edit. When submitting your entry, you also need to tell us the name of your Character and its profession, and write a short bio (110 characters max. Emoji are allowed!)

The entry should have the following format:

1. ‍Ratio: 4:5
2. ‍Min. horizontal/vertical resolution: 1536x1920
3. ‍Framerate: 24 frames per second, 192 frames in total
4. ‍File Format: MOV/MP4, H264/H265
5. ‍File naming: ArtistName-NameOfTheCharacter.mov/mp4
6. ‍Clean version: No burn-ins, subtitles, text, or graphic overlays!
7. ‍Sound: feel free to add sounds but no music/ or submit at least one version without music so we can use it in the final montage.

Your submission to us should contain (at least) 2 files: the 1st is your final work (the render). The 2nd should be a clay render (without materials and textures) of your scene containing your name and the date. Please notice: you must add your name and date somewhere into the 3d scene, not just overlayed on top.

The entry must be submitted by January 27, 4 PM CET. You will receive the link to the submission form via email once you sign up for the challenge.

By submitting your entry you are eligible for the prize pool and you allow Rokoko to showcase the entry on our platforms and channels.

The entry has to be published on any social media platform with the hashtag #MadeWithRokoko and/or #rokokovideo.

Any visual render style is welcomed, including 2D. We want to see the theme interpreted in your own, unique art style. However, to make sure your entry qualifies, you need to follow the requirements stated above. We reserve the right to exclude entries should the content not be aligned with Rokoko’s content guidelines (eg. gratuitous violence, pornographic content, etc.). The judges will take these criteria into consideration when choosing the winning entries, but you are not required to meet all 4 criteria in order to win:

No. The rule of thumb is 1 submission per 1 creator or 1 group of max. 3 creators.

Yes. Teams of max. 3 artists are allowed. In the event the group wins, it is up to the artists to divide the prizes among themselves.

Yes! You need to use Rokoko Video to animate your character. The tool is free and accessible to everyone via browser. Sign up for the challenge and we will send you more info on how to use Rokoko Video.

Yes. However, keep in mind that you need to use Rokoko Video. Third-party textures and materials can be used as much as you like.
