What is Studio Preview?
Studio Preview is a new and improved, but still work-in-progress version of Rokoko Studio. We are moving Rokoko Studio to a new and more efficient framework to increase our development velocity for new features, and reduce the demand Studio requires from your computer. Once Studio Preview is objectively better than the existing Rokoko Studio, we will fully transition and eventually sunset the current version. However, this project has only just started, so no need to worry about any big changes happening soon. As we build out this new version of Studio, we will also prioritize adding some features that have been requested by the community. We currently have two features in the app - smoothing filter and loopable segments - and since they are both paid features, we decided to make the full app accessible only to those on a paid plan or trial for now. Once we add more core functionality (like realtime visualization from your suit, gloves etc.), we will open up the app again also to users on our free Starter plan.
Is the loop feature and smoothing filter available in the original Rokoko Studio?
No, the loopable segments and smoothing filter features are not available in the current Rokoko Studio - only in Studio Preview.
What can I do with Studio Preview?
Today, we have two features available: our new smoothing filter and the loopable segments feature. Many more features - brand new and those known from Rokoko Studio today - will be added over the next months.
Is it free to use & download?
Currently, you need to be on a paid Rokoko plan to access the Studio Preview app. We decided to make the app accessible only to those on paid plans, because the two current features in the app (smoothing filter and loopable segments) are both paid features, and so the app will only be valuable to those on paid plans, and we want to save other users from the hassle of installing just to get stuck. As more core features from Rokoko Studio are added, we will again open the app up to all users, and only restrict the paid features.
What export format options are available in Studio Preview?
There are exports available in .fbx, .gltf, Mixamo and HIK on the Newton skeleton in Studio Preview. We will add additional formats and skeletons (UE4/UE5 etc.) soon.
